British Cheese Awards 2018 open for entry
Entries are now open for the 25th annual British Cheese Awards, which will feature a special Supreme Champion of Champions trophy to mark its major anniversary.
Celebrating a quarter of a century, the 2018 awards, will take place on Wednesday 30th May at the Royal Bath & West Show in Shepton Mallet, Somerset.
The judging and the presentation of the prizes at the awards dinner will all take place on the same day.
Last year’s competition attracted 1,000 entries from 148 makers and more than 54 counties across the UK and Ireland. This year’s entries, divided into 136 classes in nine categories by some 90 judges will judge 136 classes of cheese in nine categories.
Judges will score the cheeses on presentation, texture, aroma, flavour and balance. Dependent on the scores, cheeses can receive gold, silver and bronze medals.
As well as the trophies for Supreme and Reserve Champions, four country awards and the eight category awards, there will also be a Supreme Champion of Champions Award presented at the awards dinner.
