Coffee bag producer seeks investors through crowdfunding
A small firm producing a coffee product that works like a teabag has turned to crowdfunding to raise £80,000 to automate its production process as it expands.
The Real Coffee Bag Company is offering investors a stake in the business on the Funding Tree website so it can turn out more of its gourmet coffee bags, which produce a single cup of coffee when brewed in boiling water.
Founded by husband and wife team Jeanne and Paul Day, the company is currently producing each bag by hand using a special material sourced from Japan.
The Days currently sell the product direct to consumers online as well as through farm shops and delis but are targeting larger volume orders.
If the £80,000 is raised it will be put towards a move to a larger manufacturing site, and purchasing machinery machinery and go into full-scale production. In return the Days are offering 15% equity in the business to investors on the Funding Tree platform. The minimum investment is £50.
It currently produces four blends, including a decaffeinated version, as well as a single origin Nicaraguan coffee.
