Cotswold Fayre to launch chilled food service after trial success

Cotswold Fayre has confirmed that it will begin the roll-out of its chilled food distribution service in the New Year, with an initial range of 100 lines from some 17 brands.

The distributor’s line-up, which will eventually grow to 300-400 chilled products, will include Tom’s Pies, Secret Sausages, Easy Bean and Soupologie.

The launch comes after a successful trial with retailers in parts of Surrey and Sussex.

Cotswold Fayre chief executive said the trial had gone “exceptionally well” and that most customers had re-ordered and also made suggestions of other items they would like added to the catalogue.

“The launch of chilled distribution is all about making things easier for our customers,” said Hargreaves. “We know from our customers that they are looking to consolidate their fragmented supplier base more than ever, and in the chilled sector this is even more true than ambient.”

“All chilled goods will arrive into our warehouse the day before they are due for delivery, ensuring that the products have maximum shelf life when they reach the retailer.”

Retailers will be able to place chilled orders online at the distributors website.
