COVID-19 guide to help bakeries trade safely as restrictions relaxed

The Craft Bakers Association (CBA) has launched a COVID-19 management guide to help its members to return to more normal trading with confidence.
With the government’s restrictions around visiting shops and cafés expected to be relaxed further in the coming weeks, the need for businesses to reassure customers and staff that they will be safe on site is greater than ever, said the CBA.
Developed in collaboration with environmental health experts Safer Assured, the free guide offers bakers advice on how to operate safely through the coronavirus outbreak.
Karen Dear of the CBA said: “While many bakeries have stayed open over recent weeks, as we move to the next phase the COVID-19 management guide will provide bakers with everything they need to navigate the pandemic from a health and safety perspective and we hope it provides some much needed guidance and reassurance.
“Although the past couple of months have been fraught with challenges for bakers, we hope this guide helps bakers through any health and safety issues, leaving them free to focus on making the most of the opportunities that lie ahead.”
The guide contains information on best practice, safe methods and operating procedures, risk assessment templates, customisable monitoring records and signage and, additionally, members will be able to access advice over the phone from experts.
The trade body are also creating a COVID-SAFE UK quality mark which bakeries who follow their advice will be eligible to apply for.
