Drewton’s tops shops in Deliciouslyorkshire awards

Drewton’s Farm Shop in South Cave near Hull has been named Best Independent Retailer in the 2013 Deliciouslyorkshire awards.

Katie Taylor (pictured), who owns and runs the store, described the win as the “icing on the cake” after 12 months in which Drewton’s has collected a string of regional and national awards.

Specialist baker Lottie Shaw’s was the major product award winner at this year’s ceremony, held at the National Railway Museum, York, on September 25.

It took both the Best Bakery and Supreme Winner titles with its Seriously Good Yorkshire Parkin.

Staal Smokehouse took the Best Fish award with its hot smoked trout, while Best Prepared Meat was won by the British Premium Sausage Co for its Yorkshire chorizo.

Womersley collected Best Savoury Condiment for its raspberry & apple balsamic vinegar. Best Sweet Preserve was blackcurrant conserve from Mercers of Yorkshire.

Among the other winners was British breadstick maker Nib Nibs, named Best New Business.
