Farrington’s aims to beat multiples to the punch with ‘meet the buyer’ week
Farrington’s Farm Shop is holding a week-long ‘meet the buyer’ event later this month in a bid to keep ahead of the supermarkets and their local sourcing policies.
Under the banner of ‘Food Revolution’, the North Somerset farm shop is inviting artisan producers and local suppliers to pay the shop a visit during an open week that runs from August 25 to 29.
Farrington’s Nick Rose told FFD that signing up new producers is “one of the greatest challenges” the shop is facing.
“There are hundreds of local producers in the region but trying to attract them through our doors before they’re snapped up by the multiples is proving a constant battle,” he said. “In recent years farm shops have had a considerable lead over supermarkets in attracting new suppliers but the lead is getting shorter.”
Not only will the event give all-comers a chance to meet Farrington’s buyers but its owners will also be on hand to speak to producers.
