Gonalston celebrates 10th anniversary with £10,000 charity drive
To celebrate its 10th anniversary, Gonalston Farm Shop has set itself the challenge of raising £10,000 for charity from within 10 miles of its doorstep.
Just to make it even tougher, the retailer has given itself just 10 weeks to raise the cash for Nottingham Hospitals Charity.
The farm shop kicked off its campaign on August 6 with charity horse and bike rides and has also held supplier tasting events and a family fun day across its birthday weekend on August 10 and 11.
Over the next couple of months owner Georgie Mason is planning to hold talks, tours and demonstrations with Hambleton Bakery, Phesantry Brewery, Pipers Crisps and Newfield Dairy and ice cream parlour as well as a 24-hour row at the shop, a fishing competition, a charity dog walk, car wash and a book swap.
The final event on October 10 will be a Gonalston Great Taste Final Feast, which will showcase a number of Great Taste award-winning products.
The money raised will go toward the purchase of a MACSQuant flow cytometer, which will help researchers at Nottingham University Hospital analyse cancer patients’ blood samples.
