Great Taste comes to Ireland and the home of the Supreme Champ
Irish food and drink products will be judged in Ireland this year as Great Taste holds a series of sessions in the home of last year’s Supreme Champion – Clonmel, Tipperary.
A host of chefs, buyers, restaurateurs and food writers – including the BBC’s Nigel Barden and critic Charles Campion – will descend on the Hotel Minella to tackle entries from some 216 different producers over the course of three days (Tuesday 26 – Friday 29 April).
In 2015, Irish producers took 310 awards at Great Taste, including the Supreme Champion that went to beef dripping produced by Clonmel’s own James Whelan Butchers.
Great Taste judging will also be held at the Guild of Fine Food’s headquarters in Dorset, in London and in Belfast. The 2016 process draws to a close in July and the award-winning products will be announced in August.
