Great Taste judging returns to Harrogate food show
Great Taste awards judging will form part of Harrogate Speciality Food Show this year for the first time since 2006.
The Guild of Fine Food’s annual north of England show takes place on Sunday June 22 and Monday June 23 at its long-established Yorkshire Event Centre venue.
Awards judging sessions will be staged on the morning of both days, giving visitors an insight into the Great Taste process and allowing more retailers and chefs from the region to take part as judges.
Guild MD John Farrand said: “Great Taste is growing each year and the Harrogate show provides an ideal location for our judges to gather.
“Visitors will be able to see just how much work goes into judging Great Taste and how our judges work in teams to blind-taste each entry.”
He added: “We are also very pleased to be working with food group Deliciouslyorkshire which will be running meet-the-buyer events alongside the main show area. This presents even more valuable business opportunities for exhibitors and buyers.”
Harrogate Speciality Food Show is northern England’s largest annual gathering of artisan and speciality food producers, with over 150 exhibitors taking part.
Last year’s show attracted over trade 1,000 buyers from delis, farm shops, garden centres, restaurants, pubs, coffee shops, tourist attractions and hamper companies.
Products appearing for the first time this year will include dipping sauces from Brit Phil, fudges and toffees from Welsh producer Eboni ac Eifiori (ebony and ivory), London dry gin from small-batch distiller Masons Yorkshire Gin and hand-crafted rich fruit cakes from Tipple Tails
Events taking places in the Guild’s finefoodlive! theatre area include demonstrations by Yorkshire-born consultant chef Stephanie Moon and the popular Dragon‘s Den-style Feed The Dragon, where food producers have an opportunity to pitch their products to influential food buyers.
