Great Taste reaches 10k entry cap in record time
Great Taste 2016 reached its 10,000 entry cap at midday on February 18, full four days before the final deadline.
With places in the food accreditation scheme become more sought after each year, food producers had been kept informed of the rapidly decreasing number of entry slots as the February 22 deadline approached.
John Farrand, managing director of the Guild of Fine Food, which organises the awards, said: “Yet again the interest and furore around Great Taste serves as a measure of the health of our trade.
“Our reserve list of folk who have missed the deadline is growing at a vast rate of knots and we reached the 10,000 cap a full-day-and-a-half earlier than 2015. I think we’ll do away with a deadline date in 2017.”
Food producers who managed to secure entry places will receive full delivery information and codes for their entries staggered from the beginning of March to the middle of May.
