Great Taste winners vote for Shop of the Year
Great Taste-winning producers now have the opportunity to do some judging of their own as they get to vote for the best delis, farm shops and food halls in Britain.
Every one of the 1,600 specialist food and drink suppliers have been invited to nominate shops for the inaugural Great Taste Shop of the Year, which is sponsored by Hider Foods and dell’Ami.
Each award-winner can nominate three stores they consider the best in their sector. From these nominations, the 10 stores with the most votes will be visited by mystery shoppers before the 2013 Great Taste Shop of the Year is crowned at the Great Taste awards dinner in London on September 9.
Great Taste organiser and FFD associate publisher John Farrand said: “No-one gets closer to the best fine food stores than the producers who supply them.
“Asking for nominations from Great Taste award winners gives us a huge pool of ‘judges’, so no single producer can have an undue influence. But if, overall, nominations are influenced by which stores sell the most award-winning products, that’s all the good. We want to celebrate stores that do the best job of selling the best foods in Britain.”
