Harrods unveils new fine wines and spirits rooms
London department store Harrods has unveiled its new Fine Wines and Spirits Rooms, a refurbishment as part of a two-year restoration project on its food halls dubbed The Taste Revolution.
The new department is divided by wines, champagne, sparkling wines & spirits which are all categorised by flavour profile to help deconstruct wines and “break down the barriers of flavour within spirits”.
At the centre of the refurb is the Fine Wines room where products are categorised by terroirs to allow customers to discover a new wine from an unexplored region.
Each terroir offers the best in provenance including vintages varying from flavour, age and price point. Harrods’ customers are also encouraged to immerse themselves in the retail experience by engaging their senses at the newly created ‘aroma table’; an interactive table of scents that dissect the senses and guide through the flavours of each grape.
Other stand services include bottle personalisation with an in-house engraving machine, personal consultations and bespoke cellar plans for those looking to design their own premium storage unit.
“The Fine Wines and Spirits Rooms are an exciting showcase of Harrods excellence, setting it apart from any other retailer in the world,” said head of food, Alex Dower.
“The new rooms will break down barriers and change perceptions on the world of wines and spirits by focusing more on the flavour profile of the product, rather than the specific categories and brands.”
