Hider Foods upgrades fleet to focus on bespoke delivery service
Hider Foods has invested £250,000 in a new fleet of delivery vehicles in a bid to continue personally delivering orders to its customers.
The fine food and drink distributor has purchased six Mercedes vehicles to continue providing its bespoke delivery service which goes out to around 70% of its customers who receive their order from a Hider-branded truck.
The other 30% of customers receive their orders through a carefully partnered company who operate courier delivery.
Last year the distributor visited 650 customers including independent stores, farm shops and garden centres, loaded up with 12,600 consignments of fine food and drink.
The company said it was important that the trucks were “up to the job” and offer fuel efficiency, reliability and comfort to its drivers.
“Where others have moved to faceless couriered pallet distribution, we have always prided ourselves on offering a Hider Foods personal bespoke service to as many of our customers as possible,” said managing director Duncan Hider.
“We deliver to lots of small independent shops who aren’t set up to accept large pallet deliveries so they appreciate the tailored service we offer.”
Hider has also recently refreshed its branding to reflect all sides of its business from ingredients souring and packing to fine food distribution. The delivery vehicles will include the new strapline – ‘Artisan Brands in Local Hands’ – along the side.
“We all loved the simplicity of ‘Artisan Brands in Local Hands’ as it encapsulates everything we do and everything we’re proud of,” Hider added.
