Hotel Indigo launches artisan food competition

Hotel Indigo has gathered together a host of food experts, including TV presenter and farmer Jimmy Doherty, to join its search to uncover the UK’s best artisan food producers and retailers.

The InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) boutique brand has launched the ‘Flavours of the Neighbourhood’ competition, which will see the eventual winner receive £1,000 and an inclusion in the hotel’s forthcoming foodie guide.

Businesses have until February 15 to nominate themselves for ‘Flavours of the Neighbourhood’ by uploading photos of their food at hotelindigoneighbourhood.co.uk or on the dedicated Facebook app facebook.com/hotelindigoflavours

Joining Doherty on Hotel Indigo’s judging panel will be food writer and critic William Sitwell, food blogger Kerstin Rodgers (aka Ms Marmite Lover) and former Fortnum & Mason trading director Simon Burdess, now IHG’s vice president of food & beverages.

Once nominations close, it will be the public’s chance to vote, via the Facebook app, for their favourite entries. Public voting will run from February 16 to 23 and, once closed, a shortlist made up of vendors with the highest number of votes for every region, will be visited by the judging panel to taste and experience their culinary delights.

The winner will be announced at a ceremony held in London on March 17.
