Keeping jobs, retaining skills and increasing sales – how indies weathered the pandemic

The Guild of Fine Food conducted a survey of hundreds of businesses to uncover how the independent food & drink sector fared during the COVID-19 pandemic. The main findings of this research have been rendered as infographics (see below).

Supported by Food from England, Food & Drink Wales and Invest Northern Ireland, the survey is based on the experiences of both retailers and producers (137 and 214 responded respectively) between February 2020 and February 2021.

The Guild of Fine Food is now urging the Government to provide further support for this sector, after it proved itself during the crisis, to help ensure that independent businesses are at the heart of policy-making for British food & drink.

Don’t miss the full analysis of the survey results in the July issue of Fine Food Digest.
