lunch! trade show postponed until 2021 due to coronavirus
Another trade show can be added to the list of events affected by coronavirus as the organiser of lunch! has announced that the foodservice trade show will be postponed until 2021.
Diversified Communications announced that the event for the café, coffee shop and food-to-go sector is now set to be held on the 23rd and 24th September 2021 at ExCel in London.
Despite the easing of strict lockdown measures planned for the coming months, social distancing rules and restrictions on mass gatherings of people are set to remain for the foreseeable future.
Chris Brazier, event director, said: “While we were hopeful that the current tough measures on restricted social interaction would be lifted by the autumn, there are still too many questions surrounding hotels, travel, social distancing measures, and individual company policies, to make it viable to run lunch! this year.
“We are very sorry to disappoint the thousands of attendees that were planning on exhibiting and visiting. However, the success as well as the safety of our exhibitors, speakers and visitors has always been our priority and we are hoping that everyone will get behind this tough but necessary decision.”
Diversified Communications, the event’s organisers, highlighted that many of lunch!’s potential visitors and exhibitors are among the 7.5 million people currently furloughed in the UK, with thousands of outlets closed until at least July, making planning for the future difficult.
“The good news is that much of the event planning is already in place, and we go into 2021 with an incredible amount of good will and support,” added Brazier.
