Meat Merchants snacks relaunched as Cleaver & Keg for pub push

The Meat Merchants range of cured meat snacks, introduced in 2013, has been re-launched under the name Cleaver & Keg as the brand looks to gain more traction in the pub market.
The move coincides with a switch to fully British manufacture – by the British Premium Sausage Co in Bradford – using high welfare meat and Cleaver & Keg’s own recipe.
The Cleaver & Keg line-up currently comprises four products – chorizo slices, salami slices, Strips O’Beef and Hot Strips O’Beef – that have been formulated to match well with craft beers.
Priced at £1.18 per unit with an RRP of £2.50, they come in cases of 25, with a minimum order of 100 packs.
National drinks distributor Matthew Clark is already offering the snacks brands to the on-trade, but its co-founders – Norfolk publican Danny Searle and London charcuterie specialist Sean Cannon of Borough Market-based Cannon & Cannon – are also seeking a retail distributor.
