New chair announced for Q Guild of Butchers
David Lishman of Lishman’s of Ilkley has been announced as the new chair of the Q Guild of Butchers.
The family-run butchers in Yorkshire, which first opened 30 years ago and is run by Lishman with his daughter Emma, has held a Q Guild membership since 2000.
Lishman previously held the role of National Vice Chairman of the Q Guild but now takes over the role of chair from Mark Turnbull of Turnbulls of Alnwick.
Commenting on the announcement, Lishman said he was honoured to take on the role. “I’ve truly valued the guild as a way of sharing knowledge, ideas and experience,” he said. “Joining a group of like-minded, passionate butchers has allowed my business to continually aim high. It’s a genuinely inspiring group.”
The Q Guild is a seal of excellence marking over 120 of Britain’s best butchers, representing an elite group of high quality independent meat retailers across Britain from Inverness to Cornwall.
“As I start my role as chair, I’d like to focus on using our network of regional meetings to help support members in the guild,” said Lishman. “This is such a worthwhile forum for sharing experience and it’s crucial that all our members are able to tap into this and receive value from their membership.”
