New platform connects indies still trading with customers during COVID-19 lockdown
A new online platform has been launched to connect consumers seeking home delivery or pickup with independent retailers and producers during the COVID-19 lockdown.
Find Tasty helps potential customers easily discover food and drink businesses in their area that are still operating during the crisis.
The website was set up by husband-and-wife team Helen and Richard Forsyth. They said: “We want local businesses to succeed, as many people only know for sure that the supermarkets are open when they could be going to local stores or getting delivery services from independent businesses.”
The nationwide initiative is encouraging small retailers to list their shop for free for consumers to then search by region, food or drink or special dietary requirement, or even necessities like toilet roll or pet food.
“Like everyone else, we found ourselves trying to cope as a family, working, schooling and being under each other’s feet at home,” said Helen Forsyth.
“It such a scary situation that we wanted to do something positive. Going to a supermarket now feels intimidating and there are so many people heading for the same major stores, whilst smaller shops that remain open may be less visible.”
“We have seen that many shops are innovating their businesses brilliantly to keep going for customers. We want to support those businesses, so we have made it free for them to join Find Tasty.”
