North Star Coffee Roasters open first retail store and café

Wholesaler North Star Coffee Roasters has joined the retail market after opening its first coffee shop and general store next to the company’s on-site roastery and Coffee Academy at Leeds Dock.
The coffee producer announced that it is now working in partnership with micro-bakery, Noisette Bakehouse, to offer baked goods and its own ethically-sourced coffee at the new coffee shop. Adding that freshly-made salads and small tartines will be available at lunch, with a rotating weekend brunch menu and selection of alcohol from local brewers.
The general store is also a “hugely important part of the offering” says co-founder Holly Bowman, stocking products from food and drink producers from across the world including Cocoa Runners, Proper Nutty, Rubies in the Rubble, Stickeys and sourdough loaves from Leeds Bread Co-op.
“We are really excited to open our first retail space at Leeds Dock and can’t wait to share all that goes on at North Star with our customers,” said Bowman.
North Star’s Coffee Academy, which was established in 2016, is certified to deliver accredited Specialty Coffee Association courses to industry professionals. The company says it is one of three spaces in the UK set up to deliver the full spectrum of Sensory Skills courses and will shortly be able to host the full range of Coffee Diploma courses.
