Patchwork unveils mushroom marmalade
Mushroom marmalade is the latest creation to emerge from Patchwork Paté’s kitchens as the North Wales company looks to build on the success of its vegan red pesto paté, which won a Golden Fork in Great Taste 2014.
Made with caramelised onions and shiitake mushrooms, the marmalade is a relish said to have a sweet flavour initially, followed by a lingering umami aftertaste.
The vegan- and vegetarian-friendly range comprises three varieties – original mushroom marmalade as well as a jalapeño chilli and an oak smoke version – all of which come in 100g jars.
The relish can be used with any kind of burger as well as with cheese and cold meats or spread over toast as a light meal.
“After the huge award winning success of our Vegan Red Pesto Pâté in the Great Taste awards and the growing demand for our ambient range of patés and chutneys, it became clear that we needed something more than just chutney in a jar to appeal our vegan and vegetarian customers,” said Patchwork director Jenny Whitham. “I had the idea that a mushroom delicacy in a jar would appeal to a wide audience of mushroom lovers and so mushroom marmalade was born”
Patchwork Paté’s red pesto paté won three stars in last year’s Great Taste was well as the Golden Fork for Best Speciality from Wales.
