Paxton & Whitfield appoints James Rutter as new head of operations
Paxton & Whitfield has appointed James Rutter as its new head of operations.
Rutter will begin his new role next month at the company’s central warehouse in Bourton-on-the-Water. He will be responsible for overseeing the growth of the online delivery side of the business and warehouse operations.
Already with well-established background in fine food retailing, Rutter is joining Paxton’s from his role as head of sales & marketing at truffle supplier TruffleHunter. He was previously the export sales manager at Neal’s Yard Dairy.
The new position is a part of a team restructure by the cheesemonger following the departure of trade and corporate sales manager Jeremy Bowen, who after 22 years with the business, has left to take up new commercial opportunities.
“Today’s retail market is fast and ever-changing,” said managing director Ros Windsor. “To help drive the online channel of our business we’ve been looking for the right team to help deliver the exciting strategy we have developed.”
She added: “James ticked all the boxes in terms of his experience and enthusiasm. We’re looking forward to him joining the company and leading on the growth of our direct to customer experience.”
Speaking about his new role, Rutter said: “With a proven record for increasing sales of speciality food in challenging digital, export and domestic wholesale environments, working for such a prestigious food retailer with a great heritage such as Paxton’s and helping to grow its online sales is great opportunity.”
