Paxton’s Stratford branch is Cheese Counter of the Year 2016
After taking the runner-up spot last year, Paxton & Whitfield’s Stratford-upon-Avon store has gone one better to win the Cheese Counter of the Year 2016, sponsored by Le Gruyère AOP.
Lincoln retailer The Cheese Society came second while La Cave a Fromage in Hove and The Pangbourne Cheese Shop in Reading shared third place.
Clare Turner, Paxton’s Stratford branch manager, collected the trophy at the Great Taste Golden Forks Dinner on Monday September 5.
The judges were impressed with every aspect of Paxton & Whitfield’s West Midlands branch, particularly the “constant state of evolution with new products, new training ideas and new ways of displaying cheese”.
The other cheese shops listed for the awards were Apley Farm Shop in Shropshire, Yorkshire retailer Lewis & Cooper and Shearers Fine Foods in Sussex. Belfast’s Arcadia Deli was also on the list together with London shops Jeroboams and Pistachio & Pickle.
