Peelham Farm and Little Doone among winners at Scottish show
An air-dried ham from Berwickshire and a balsamic dressing from Ayrshire were among the “best in show” winners at Scotland’s Speciality Food Show this year.
Peelham Farm’s air-dried ham was named the winner of the chilled & frozen category, while Little Doone’s raspberry balsamic dressing took the condiments & preserves gong. The Wee Tea Co’s rooibos & vanilla tea was named the best drink on show and the confectionery, biscuits & snacks category was won by Your Piece Baking Co’s handmaded oatcakes with seeds.
The winners were chosen from a host of exhibiting producers at the show, which was held at Glasgow’s SECC on January 19-21.
A panel of industry experts, including Earthy Food owner Pete Jackson and Emma Niven from Loch Leven’s Larder, judged each product’s originality, commercial appeal and value for money.
Both the winners and runners up in each category received logos to use in their marketing material and the four winners were given 2m of free stand space for the 2015 show.
