Tradition with a pinch of salt

The Great Taste Golden Fork for Best Irish Speciality has been presented to Irish Atlantic Sea Salt of Beara in County Cork for its Irish Atlantic Sea Salt with Dill Pollen. The handcrafted sea salt, which is Ireland’s only sea salt, is made by combining age-old salt making methods and energy efficient production to produce sea salt flakes which retain many beneficial trace elements.

With the Atlantic almost on their doorstep on the stunning Beara Peninsula in West Cork, Michael and Aileen O’Neill perfected the art of taking crystal clear Atlantic sea water and

turning it into high quality flakes of sea salt. Great Taste judges commented “A stunning salt which looks amazing and smells absolutely divine. One whiff conjures up a taste of the sea, salmon and fresh trout. A perfect balance between salt and dill and one of the best flavoured salts we have ever tasted.”

Out of 10,000 products entered into Great Taste 2014, Irish Atlantic Sea Salt with Dill Pollen was awarded its honour at the Great Taste Golden Forks Dinner on September 8th, where over 300 guests from the world of fine food gathered to hear the results of many months of judging.
