Quickes tours America to boost exports
Devon cheese-maker Quickes has sent its sales and marketing manager on a six-week research tour of the USA in a bid to increase exports of its clothbound cheese to the country.
Tom Chatfield will visit more than 50 stores, as well as restaurants, fellow cheese-makers and distributors, across five American regions – mid-Atlantic, South, South West, South Pacific and North California
Chatfield will also run tastings of the Quickes range – which includes cheddar, Red Leicester and Double Gloucester – with the general public.
“It’s an intensive programme of activity that I believe will help us identify the areas with the biggest potential for Quickes,” said Chatfield. “The dynamics of the US market are very different to the UK and if we are to take the export market seriously, then a grass root level of understanding will help us play to our strengths in the long term.”
