Record number of exhibitors sign up for Olympia show

visitors at SFFFNext month’s Speciality & Fine Food Fair (SFFF) will be almost a fifth larger than 2013’s, making this the most successful year in the London show’s history, according to organiser Fresh Montgomery.

Last year saw the UK’s biggest speciality food trade exhibition match its pre-recession peak in terms of floor-space, with around 600 companies represented.

Speaking to FFD ahead of this year’s SFFF, which runs from Sunday September 7 to Tuesday September 9, show director Soraya Gadelrab described the growth in interest this year as “ridiculous”, with 18% more floorspace sold and 14% more exhibitors. “That‘s a huge increase for us year on year,” she said.

The show will be previewed fully in September’s edition of FFD, which will also be the magazine’s biggest ever issue.

Gadelrab said a quarter of the 2014 show’s floorspace had been taken by international exhibitors. This suggested the UK market was seen as an attractive target by producers in nations that have been slower to emerge from recession, with France and Spain among the countries booking more space than in previous years.

The Speciality Chocolate Fair – the show-within-a-show added to the SFFF in 2008 – will be 7% larger than last year, with around 60 British and overseas suppliers exhibiting.
