Retailers invited to meet new Scottish producers at London ‘showcase’ event
Small food and drink companies from Scotland are targeting fine food stores in the London area through a meet-the-buyer event on February 6.
The invitation-only ‘new producer showcase’ is part of the Route to Market Programme run by Scotland Food & Drink, which has already seen producers attend a one-day workshop and two-day ‘learning journey’ on targeting the South East.
Scotland Food & Drink, a not-for-profit body funded partly by industry and partly by the public sector, has identified London and surrounding areas as key markets for growth for Scottish artisan products. Recently commissioned research suggested that 27% of all UK fine food outlets are located in the region.
More than 20 producers are confirmed for the showcase event at the Cadogan Hotel in Knightsbridge. They will present their products to buyers from food halls, delis, farm shops and other independent stores.
Access to Markets manager Stephanie Pritchard commented: “Scotland Food & Drink has identified London as a key market for our industry. 2014 is a big year for Scotland as we play host to the Commonwealth Games, the Ryder Cup and the second edition of Homecoming.”
Retailers interested in attending the event are asked to email Stephanie Pritchard for more details:
