Sharpham Park releases first crop of organic walnuts

Organic walnuts are now available from Somerset’s Sharpham Park. High in Omega 3 fatty acids and lauded as a superfood, this crop from 300 walnut trees is the first for Sharpham Park.
Founder Roger Saul planted the trees on his organic estate 12 years ago after finding the remains of a monk’s lunch hidden in a medieval wall that contained chicken bones, scallop shells and walnuts.
Among the health benefits walnuts lay claim to is protection against heart disease, improvement of cholesterol levels and loaded with micro nutrients such as zinc, magnesium and manganese.
Sharpham Park expect them to be a big hit with cooks and say they can be added to most recipes found in Roger Saul’s spelt cook book.
500g of Sharpham Park’s organic walnuts have an RRP of £8.95
