Shortlists unveiled for 15th BBC Food & Farming Awards
Gloucester Services, Doddington Dairy and Warner Edwards distillery are among the businesses in contention for this year’s BBC Food & Farming awards.
The BBC unveiled its shortlists, including the Food Retailer category that will see Westmorland’s M5 services up against Aberystwyth organic shop Treehouse and the Liverpool 8 Superstore in the Food Retailer category.
Northumberland ice cream and cheese-maker Doddington Dairy, London’s E5 Bakehouse and Scottish seaweed specialist Mara will contest the Best Food Producer category while the Best Drinks Producer line-up consists of Dunkerton’s Cider from Herefordshire, ginger beer producer Square Root London and Northampton gin distillery Warner Edwards.
Now in their 15th year, the awards also include categories for Best Food Market, Best Street Food or Takeaway, Best Food Initiative, BBC Cook of the Year and Countryfile’s Farming Hero.
This year’s finalists will feature in a special edition of BBC Radio 4’s The Food Programme, broadcast on Monday May 4. Winners will be announced at a ceremony held in Bristol on Thursday April 30.
Chaired by chef Cyrus Todiwala, the judging panel includes Countryfile farmer Adam Henson, food journalist Joanna Blythman and drinks expert Pete Brown as well as The Food Programme presenter and awards co-founder Sheila Dillon. The panel also features a number of chefs, including Angela Hartnett, Giorgio Locatelli and Richard Corrigan.
