Sourced Market to raise £700,000 for second station site
St Pancras station deli-café Sourced Market is planning to raise in excess of half a million pounds from private investors to open a second site in another of London’s major transport hubs.
The retailer will soon be launching its appeal for £700,000 on crowdfunding website Crowdbnk as it looks to roll out its concept onto another concourse, with London Bridge station high on its wishlist.
Sourced Market founder Ben O’Brien told FFD that he wanted to start with a site “as similar to [St Pancras] as possible” and it is understood the preference would be London Bridge Station, which is currently being redeveloped.
O’Brien added that establishing this next outlet would be a big step towards developing a national chain.
“Inevitably there will be lessons learned from site number two,” he said. “But by the time we open a third site, we’ll have a sturdy business model.”
According to a pre-launch teaser on CrowdBnk’s website, Sourced Market “delivers the quality, variety atmosphere and shopping experience found at farmers’ markets and combines it with the operational efficiency and convenience of a Tesco Express.”
