St Peter’s unveils alcohol-free beer
With alcohol sales shrinking and drink-driving laws set to be tightened, Suffolk brewery St Peter’s hopes to fill a gap in the market for alcohol-free beer.
Three years in the making, Without contains less alcohol than a glass of orange juice and 25% fewer calories than a regular pint but the brewery says it has the same malty, full-bodied flavour of ale.
The beer, which is stripped of alcohol through a unique process, comes in 330ml bottles and the brewery’s signature 500ml bottles and the RRP is expected to be similar to alcoholic beers.
“The time is right to launch St Peter’s Without,” said CEO Steve Magnall. “Pubs and bars are crying out for an excellent quality, full-bodied, alcohol-free beer that drinkers will take seriously.
“We want to be at the forefront of this growing sector, which we believe will form 10% of the UK beer market within 10 years.”
