The Zingiberi Bakery among winners at 2016 Taste of Kent Awards

Black pepper & sea salt crackers from The Zingiberi Bakery in Herne Bay have been named Kent Food Product of the Year at the Taste of Kent Awards.

The oat-based Captain’s Crackers were among a host of products and retailers picking up gongs at a ceremony held at the Kent Event Centre in Detling on March 4.

The same product won the the Bakery & Confectionery class in the Kent Food Product category, joined by AMC Foods’ extra virgin rapeseed oil blended with lemon (Ambient), Hinxden Farm Dairy’s Channel Island Double Cream (Dairy), Paramour Pie Club’s Mr McGregor’s Pie (Prepared Food) and 60² gin from Anno Distillers (Specialist Drink).

AMC Foods, which also produces the Kent Crisps range, was named Food Producer of the Year while Chegworth Valley took the title of Juice Producer of the Year.

Peter’s Produce in Herne Bay won the Local Food Retailer of the Year, with Holwood Farm Shop in Keston and Monty’s of Birchington the finalists.

Chapel Down Vineyard’s Bacchus was named Wine of the Year while Kentish Pip Craftsman took the prize for Cider or Perry of the Year and Romney Marsh Brewery’s Amber Ale won Beer of the Year.
