Great Taste case study
Cashel Farmhouse Cheesemakers was set up in 1984 and now has twenty full-time employees, plus an additional five who help the main team on a part-time basis. Based in Tipperary, Cashel Farmhouse Cheesemakers have been involved with the Guild of Fine Food through the World Cheese Awards for decades and it was through this relationship that they started to enter Great Taste over fourteen years ago.
Each year Cashel Farmhouse Cheesemakers enter two or three products and have been awarded multiple 1-star and 2-star accolades, two 3-stars and a Golden Fork. They are entering two more products in Great Taste 2025.
Sarah Furno, Cheese Maturer and Joint Owner of Cashel Farmhouse Cheesemakers comments: “The Great Taste awards are very well recognised within our customer base, there are so many different award schemes out there, and its really important to commit to just a handful to highlight the consistency within your products. We have been entering Great Taste because we really value the feedback in terms of the judges’ comments – we use these externally and to feedback to our own team.
“As consistent winners, it is important to us to demonstrate our consistency by entering each year. It is important to us as a business to never let the taste quality drop, bringing Great Taste stars home each year is affirmation that quality remains the same.
Winning the Golden Fork was a great achievement, but it’s not as well-known as the others. It’s the 3-stars that mean the most to us, the Irish and British food community recognise how difficult it is to get a 3-star award, so being granted one really does remind foodies that you’re at the absolute top of your game.”
