Great Taste Case study
Food of Gods was a Great Taste Bursary winner in 2024, which means it was specially selected amongst 50 micro-producers to enter the Great Taste award scheme for free. The Great Taste Bursary exists because the Guild of Fine Food believes that every great producer deserves a chance to be recognised for their amazing high quality produce, it is designed to help with fees and processes that might otherwise be prohibitive.
Food of Gods was set up in 2022 and entered four products into the Great Taste awards scheme in 2024. They were awarded stars for each entry as well as a Golden Fork for their Kandy Heirloom Cinnamon. Prerna Baruah, founder of Food of Gods says, “The black and gold stickers that represent Great Taste are unmissable when you see them in-store and we were very keen to enter such a well-established and recognizable accreditation scheme. A Great Taste star is a badge of honour and really helps build credibility which is important for a very young start up like ours.
This is the only accreditation scheme that we have taken part in so far and we will be entering again this year. It will be so exciting to have our whole range go through the rigorous Great Taste process and receive that all important feedback from the judges. To be able to call ourselves an award-winning brand in the truest sense of the word, with all our products receiving accreditation would be a dream come true.
It feels absolutely incredible to be able to dedicate this success to all our farming partners, it’s their passion and extraordinary dedication to natural farming that you see reflected in every jar of spice.
To receive a Golden Fork is recognition the like of which we have never experienced before, made even more special because as soon as we achieved that level of accreditation we were approached by a very special retailer who we have been trying to convince to stock our products for the last two years.”
