Great Taste case study
Laura Alapa, founder of Ohelo’s, entered Great Taste for the first time in 2025. She and her family have worked together for twenty years, using locally sourced ingredients to make small batch jams and chutneys that are hand-stirred in large copper pots, bringing their own ‘aloha’ to every jar. Laura entered Great Taste encouraged by the love and support of her biggest fan, her niece.
She says: “We’ve been serving our line of mango chutneys and jams for twenty years, and after all that time, we are proud to have entered Great Taste and earned our place to sit amongst the world’s best. It is so important to us to be part of this artisanal food and drink community – to connect with others that are just as passionate about their craft as we are. We all treasure the opportunity to create products that bring joy to people’s lives.

“This is the first time we have entered any kind of accreditation or award scheme and we are absolutely thrilled with our stars, coming from a small island in the middle of the ocean, this has meant we are able to represent our home and it has bought great honour to our state and all the culinary artists here in Hawaii.
