Great Taste – Front of house, London

Seasonal role, temporary
Work location: 42 Southwark Street, London SE1 1UN

Great Taste judging operates a bit like a restaurant, and our front of house team assist in serving food to the judges, ensuring they have everything they need to assess and feedback to producers.

In the kitchen, we have a chef preparing the food and drink entries, assisted by a kitchen porter and the front of house team are responsible for making sure the entries are delivered in the best possible condition to the judging tables and circulated around the judging teams.

Your role involves working as a team and starts with welcoming the judges to the judging venue each day. During the morning and afternoon judging sessions, you will be decanting and serving the entries to the judge in the optimal way for each product, according to the Great Taste guidelines. Behind the scenes, you will be involved in ensuring not only the smooth running of the judging sessions, but also taking part in the rigorous checks and warehouse organisation it takes to deliver Great Taste. Once a week, we operate a goods in day where products for the following week are delivered and sorted.

You will be interacting with our pool of expert judges on a daily basis, get to meet artisan food producers as they drop off their entries and be surrounded by some delicious food and drink. You will also gain valuable insight into the operations needed to deliver a large-scale event.

If you are interested in the food and drink industry, the Great Taste front of house role is not only fun, but an excellent way to network with the very best industry professionals.

Every food and drink producer who enters Great Taste deserves to have their product treated with care and attention, there is hard work and a story behind each one of them, and we are looking for team members who share our enthusiasm and respect for the industry.
